The draw for the final stage of the 2022 World Cup took place in the capital of Qatar, Doha. Based on its results, the composition of the groups at the group stage was determined and the schedule of matches in all quartets became known. Before the draw, FIFA presented the mascot of the 2022 World Cup. His name is La'ib, and outwardly he resembles a flying carpet. From Arabic, the name mascot is translated as "super-skilled player."

The participants of the World Cup were divided into four groups. The seven strongest teams according to the FIFA rating, as well as the host of the tournament, Qatar, got into the first basket. In the remaining pots, the teams were also distributed according to their rating. The last "eight" included the participants of the play-offs, which will be held this summer. Recall that in the European qualification, Wales will play with the winner of the Scotland-Ukraine pair, in the intercontinental junctions Peru will fight with the winner of the Australia-UAE pair, and Costa Rica will play with New Zealand.

Two teams from each group advance to the playoffs. The games of the 1/8 finals will take place on December 3-6, the quarter-finals on December 9-10, the semi-finals on December 13-14, in three days there will be a match for third place, and the final is scheduled for December 18.

Which stadiums will host the 2022 World Cup matches?

The World Cup games in Qatar will be held at eight stadiums in five cities. The opening match will take place at the Al-Bayt Arena, located in Al-Hawr. It can accommodate 60,000 spectators. And the final of the tournament will take the national stadium in Lusail, accommodating 80,000 spectators.

In addition, three arenas of the 2022 World Cup are located in Ar Rayyan - these are Evolution City (seats 45,350 spectators), Ahmed bin Ali (44,740) and Khalifa (40,000). In Doha, matches will be played at Ras Abu Aboud (40,000) and El Tumama (40,000) stadiums, and El Wakra at El Janub (40,000). It was reported that each arena will be equipped with a cooling system so that the temperature inside the bowl can drop to +20 degrees.

The Qatar national team will play in the World Cup for the first time, and the tournament itself will be held in the Middle East for the first time.
